We modify the adjective according to the tables below and add ‘than’ after it. We have some rules which tell us how to modify the adjective. ​​

Shock horror, this is one rule which actually works for all of the adjectives. Apart from a few irregular ones, but there aren’t that many to learn. We modify the adjective according to the tables below to form the comparative. Then we add ‘than’ directly after the comparative.
