Do you know what a road junction is? It’s where a road meets another road and they join together. This is kind of similar to a conjunction. A conjunction joins two or more words, phrases, or clauses and makes the sentence flow.

You’ve seen the picture above, conjunctions look easy, right? I think I’ve lulled you into a false sense of security as they’re not quite that simple. There are in fact three types of conjunctions with pretty scary sounding names.

- Subordinating conjunctions
- Correlative conjunctions
They all have different functions and there are lots of them for you to try and remember. I’ll start by easing you in with a quick overview, then we can look at them in more detail (if I haven’t scared you off by then!).
